WPN for Mina Business: Municipalities to introduce budget lines for women enterpreneurship

Representative of the Women's Political Network, Jelena Radenović, in an interview for MINA Business, talked about women entrepreneurship as the economic potential of Montenegro and presented the initiative to support female entrepreneurship through the introduction of special lines in the municipal budgets.
Radenovic told Mina business agency that urgent adoption of the Decision on the allocation of funds is necessary, especially in municipalities where local elections are soon to be announced.
"If this obligation is left to the new convening of parliaments in these municipalities, there will be no time for the whole allocation procedure prescribed by the decision, meaning that the funds will remain trapped in the budget or will not be utilised for its intended purpose," said Radenovic, and reminded that in six municipalities (Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Bar, Budva, Kolasin and Herceg Novi), funds were allocated in the total amount of about 120 thousand euro
"It may not be a great deal from the point of view of those who are engaged in entrepreneurship, but we are sure that this is only the initial step in the development of women entrepreneurship," adds Radenović.
According to the data, women account for 50% of human capital and half of the labor force in Montenegro, meaning that they represent significant economic potential- however, they participate in economic activity with only 9.6%, which is far below the average in EU countries with a share of between 30 and 38 percent.
