The project „Economic empowerment of women“: The chance to run their own business

Lidija Giljen from Niksic hopes she would be soon one of those who have managed to start their own business.
" I do want it, and I'm sure I can, because I want to work and believe in myself. As a physiotherapist I want to continue this work, but also to expand activities in the cultivation of medicinal plants, and producing oil and massage cream ", said Lidija.
She is one of the 60 women from Niksic who were trained through the the program “Support to implementation of the anti-discrimination and gender equality policies in Montenegro” .
"Expectations from this training are high. A large number of women would start their own businesses with little financial support. The problem is that many of them have no guarantee for funding and need to help in terms of greater grace period or receiving non-returnable grants ", she said.
The above-mentioned project, implemented by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and UNDP, with the support of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, has the goal to help women to start or expand own businesses in Podgorica and Niksic.
